Massachusetts Food Safety Regulations
Every food service establishment must have at least one Food Manager. One Certified Food Manager is required per establishment as the Person In Charge (PIC). When PIC is not present, an uncertified but food safety knowledgeable substitute must be present. The certified food manager must be at least 18 years of age.
Food Manager Certification
Required. No regulations on training or specific training but recommended.
Food Handler Certification
Strongly suggested. Not mandatory.

Certification Renewal
Food Manager – 5 years; Food Handler – 5 years.

Prometric, ServSafe, National Registry of Food Safety Professionals (NRFSP), and 360 Training
Approved Options
